Jamie Sahagian, paralegal in Riviera Beach, Florida

Jamie Sahagian

Paralegal  ·  Riviera Beach, Florida

Jamie Sahagian’s work as a paralegal grew out of an early background in scientific research. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida, with minors in Philosophy and Business Administration, supported by a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship. Before finishing that degree, he worked as a research assistant studying the molecular genetics of maize and sorghum, and after graduating, he spent nearly two years managing a transgenic mouse colony at the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience, supporting research on neuronal signal transduction that was later published in Frontiers in Cellular Neuroscience.

Sahagian went on to study at the City University of New York School of Law, where he served as a Senior Staff Member of the CUNY Law Review and held the CUNY Justice Roundtable Fellowship and the Hamill Family Summer Fellowship in Children’s Rights. His paralegal career began at Queens Defenders in New York, supporting criminal defense clients through legal research, court runs, and trial preparation, including helping facilitate a new partnership connecting clients with bail assistance through a charitable bail fund.

Legal Work Across Two States

After returning to Florida, Sahagian worked as a paralegal with the Office of the Public Defender in Palm Beach County, part of the 15th Judicial Circuit, drafting orders and motions for Mental Health Court cases involving clients found incompetent to proceed to trial or not guilty by reason of insanity. He most recently worked as a probate and estate planning paralegal for a West Palm Beach firm, drafting pleadings for estate administration, tracking deadlines across a full caseload, preparing the checklists Florida courts require, and handling deed preparation and guardianship filings.

Across each of these roles, Sahagian’s approach has stayed consistent: treat documentation and deadlines with the same discipline a research protocol demands, whether the case involves a criminal defense filing, a Mental Health Court motion, or a probate deed.

Outside of Work

Sahagian is based in Riviera Beach, Florida, close to family in the area. Outside of his legal work, he spends time golfing, biking, snorkeling, fishing, boating, and following boat races along the Florida coast.
